AR (Augmented Reality) is not virtual reality:  while the latter is a simulation of reality, totally recreated using digital instruments, the former is a «mix between the perception of the surrounding reality and the images generated by a personal computer, in order to provide users with additional information while they move in or interact with their actual environment».

AR and cultural heritage

AR can be used in different fields, such as design, advertisement, education, armed forces or computer games, but probably the most interesting application is in the sector of cultural heritage and the arts.

Some trials made in Italy can already give a clear example of the different advantages of AR.

Also the implementation of AI (Artificial Intelligence) solutions in public administration and bureaucracy can bring significant benefits: from cost reduction to higher efficiency and human resources optimisation based on the strategic objectives of the organisation.

The Panel looks at studying all possible solutions and opportunities deriving from new technologies and applications.
